zune sharing

According to Zune.net:

Mama always said to share. Zune gives you the chance to share your favorite music, audio podcasts, pictures, and playlists. Just beam your favorite stuff to your friends with wireless Zune-to-Zune sharing.

You're walking down the street. Or you're in a coffee shop with a bunch of friends. Or at a concert. Or at the airport. Or on the bus (you get the idea) and then you whip out your Zune and check to see who else is around.

Zap! You're connected to your best friend. You beam a playlist of new songs your band played at a local gig last weekend, along with some pix of the group on stage. You send another friend the hilarious podcast your brother made, plus that song you got at the Zune Marketplace that you can't get out of your head. And hey, look here, your friend is sending you a song that you might like.

Best of all, the song you received isn't just a 30-second preview—it's the whole song! You can listen to it up to three times and send it along to other friends. If you like it, add it to your wish list to remind you to buy it later at Zune Marketplace. Pictures and podcasts beamed to you are yours to keep forever.

You can also fly under the radar when you want to—just turn off wireless. Or adjust your wireless appearance to allow people to merely see that your Zune is turned on. Or, if you want, set your Zune to show your friends exactly what you're listening to now.

A few good things to know about sharing songs Zune to Zune:
  • You can play a song beamed to you up to three times, with no time limit.
  • You can receive a beamed song on your Zune only once.
  • Zune devices need to be within wireless range of each other to share songs and other items.
  • Beaming works only between Zune devices using version 2 of the Zune device software.
  • You may not be able to share all the songs on your Zune.
